Attendance

Attendance Email: mpsattendance@cbe.ab.ca

Attendance Line: 403-777-6442 ext. 1

Regular attendance is a requirement of being enrolled in school. Consistent attendance, punctuality and good work habits are essential for success. Please refer to AR 6020 Attendance of Students.

If students are absent, parents or guardians are expected to call the school at 403-777-6442 extension “1” before 9:15 AM. Alternatively parents may also email the school (MPSattendance@cbe.ab.ca). Parents may leave a message on the office voice mail 24 hours a day. Please leave name of student (please spell out last name), grade, and reason for the absence. If no reason is given the student will have an unexcused absence. The school will contact parents with attendance concerns. Students who are absent will not be permitted to attend extracurricular activities on that day.

Late Arrival / Early Departure

If a student arrives at school after the late bell, he/she will be recorded as being absent until he/she signs in at the office and receives a late slip. If a student has been at a medical appointment, a note from the clinic/doctor/dentist should be presented when the student signs in.

If students repeatedly arrive late for school, they will be expected to make up the time. In the event that tardiness persists, an attendance improvement plan may be necessary. If a student needs to leave school prior to dismissal time, the parent or guardian needs to sign them out at the office or the student can present a note signed by the parent or guardian prior to signing out. Students may not go home during school hours unless someone in authority at home gives permission for them to do so.
