Mount Royal School Community,
As we look forward to the start of the 2023-2024 school year, I wanted to provide you with a few staffing updates.
Please join me in congratulating Carman Portelli who will be moving to Sir John Franklin as their Acting Assistant Principal. Carman will be a great addition to their team. We will hire a temporary teacher to fill in until Carman’s return.
I also wanted to share the news that I have made the difficultand exciting decision to resign from the Calgary Board of Education in order to pursue another opportunity. Jeff Hutton a retired principal will be the acting principal at Mount Royal until a new permanent principal is hired. (likely late September). Jeff shared, “I am excited to join the Mount Royal School community as Acting Principal during this period of transition. My previous experiences include System Principal for Area 2, Acting Area Director for Area 6 and principal of New Brighton School and Bridlewood School. I look forward to working with parents, staff and students to ensure a successful start-up to the 2023-2024 school year at Mount Royal School during my short time as part of the Lion Pride.”
I have been working with Mr. Hutton and Ms. Traxler to ensure a smooth transition and a positive start up.
I wanted to express my deep gratitude to everyone connected to Mount Royal School. It has been an honour serving as principal for the last four years. The students, staff and families are positive, thoughtful, caring and committed to making Mount Royal a wonderful place to come and learn. I am confident that this energy shall continue.
You can expect a more detailed “Back to School” email next week. We also encourage you to provide input into the hiring of the next principal at Mount Royal School through completing the this survey.
With “Lion Pride”,
Bradey
Principal
