Attendance Line: 403-777-7980 ext. 1.
Students who attend school regularly and punctually build a solid foundation for success. If students are going to be absent for any reason, parents must call the absence line above, prior to the absence. We ask that you state the student name, homeroom, date, and reason for absence. If no call is received, a call home will be made to the parent / guardian. Alternatively, students may bring a signed note from a parent to the office when they return.
Lates
We understand that students may be late for many legitimate reasons such as appointments, bus issues, and severe traffic delays. Students who arrive late as the result of an appointment should bring an appointment slip or note with them and give it to the office when they arrive at school. The office is usually aware of severe bus and traffic issues and will excuse those lates. Being late to class is extremely disruptive to the learning of others.
Students who are late for reasons other than those listed above may receive detentions, phone calls or letters home, or other consequences. Leaving campus is a privilege and students who return late after lunch will have this privilege revoked and not be allowed to leave campus for a period of time.
Illness at School
Students who become ill at school should come to the office and contact their parents for permission to go home. If the parents are not available, we may contact the emergency contacts. If students need to leave school early for an appointment or any other reason, they must check out at the school office with a note from their parents.
Extended Absences
We recognize enrichment activities and travel may present unique learning opportunities for your child. It is important to remember that these absences can create gaps in student learning and social development. It will be your responsibility as a parent/guardian to support your child’s learning if you choose to allow your child to miss school days for these activities. Please take note that the following absences will be unexcused:
- If you take a vacation or family holiday during school days.
- CBE provides many opportunities for families to holiday during winter, spring and summer breaks. We encourage you to book holidays during these breaks.
- If your child needs to start late or leave early from school, due to non-school related extracurricular activities (athletic activities, enrichment programs, music programs, theatre performances, etc.)
It is helpful for us when we have been notified in advance of your child’s absence. Please call our office to inform us of days when your child will be away. If you have any questions or need more information please contact us.
