Security

Visitor Sign-In Mandatory

We keep our school a safe place! We ask all visitors to enter by the front door, check-in and out of the office, and wear a tag issued by the office while in the school. All doors are locked when school is in session. These procedures are for the safety and security of all students at the school.

Entry & Exit Procedures

Students are to enter and leave the building at their designated doors and carry boots and outdoor shoes to and from their classroom. Please remove hats when entering the building. Decide on a common outside meeting spot for family and friends.

Supervision

The school provides playground supervision at recess, lunch and 15 minutes prior to entrance time. Students are not to arrive at school before these times unless supervised by an adult. Unless students are taking part in a school-supervised activity they are asked to go home at the dismissal bell. See more on school hours

Dropping Off Items For Students

If you need to bring something to school for your child during the day (i.e. forgotten items such as lunch or class projects), please drop it off at the office and we will make sure that your child receives it.

Meeting Areas

After school, children should meet their “walking groups” at a place outside the school and are encouraged to go home first before making play arrangements.

Court Orders

Some families go through changes in their living arrangements. In the case of a divorce, we need a copy of supporting legal documents on file at the school that outlines the legal rights of the parties. Please be sure to inform the school if there is a restraining order.

School Closures

In the rare instance that a school must be closed, parents will be advised through radio reports, the CBE website and our school website. To ensure you don't miss out on any school email messages subscribe today

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
