Mount View School has a “safety phone-in attendance policy”. Parents are required to phone the school prior to 8:30 AM or 1:00 PM at the number above if your child is going to be absent or late. If the school has not received a telephone call from you and your child is absent, the school will attempt to phone you at home or work. We depend on you to phone us. A large number of confirmations delays the response time needed if we do have an emergency. Please ensure that we have all updated phone numbers.

Punctual Attendance Important

Regular attendance and a habit of being on time are important to a child’s progress. We ask that appointments, visits, lessons and holidays are planned so that they do not interrupt school times, if at all possible. When removed during school hours, children miss instruction that is difficult to make up. If this cannot be avoided, we ask that a note, explaining the reason and time the child will be picked up, be sent to the teacher. Parents should meet their child at the school office to sign them out. Students cannot be released without the written consent of the parent.

Late Policy

Students who arrive after the entry bell and after classes have entered the school are asked to enter through the front doors and check-in to the office for a late slip. All other outside doors will be kept locked for security reasons. Please assist us by using this late entry procedure with your child.

Mid-Day Pick-ups

Please avoid picking up your children before the designated lunch or afternoon dismissal times. The final minutes of the morning and afternoon are important organizational times for the students and teachers

Staying After School

It is often convenient and/or necessary to have children remain after school for a short time to provide extra help to complete assignments, help with a project or take part in extra-circular activities. If a student is going to be detained after school for more than ten minutes the children will be asked to notify their parents/guardians.

We believe there is a strong correlation between attendance and effective education. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students regulation applies to all of our students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
