We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

Course Change Information

Timetabling is a process that usually takes weeks and months to maximize our school resources in the most responsive way to student/family requests.  While we will benefit from the work we completed in the springtime, we are continually making updates based on changing circumstances and new information provided to us from the Calgary Board of Education and Alberta Education in consultation with Alberta Health Services.

Due to the complexities of this year’s timetable, we are limited in course alterations that we can make.  The availability of courses offered this year has been reduced due to the number of staff that NSS lost in the spring.  We will make every effort to accommodate student requests but there will be cases we will not have the ability to accommodate change.  We will be doing course changes for the grade 10-12’s on the times listed above.  The course changes will be made in front of the school so there is no need to enter the building.  To sign up for one of the limited spots the instructions are listed below:

Parents will need to create/use their My CBE/PowerSchool parent account to book the school conference if they do not already have one.  Conferences will open at 4:00 pm on August 26, 2020 and close at midnight August 31, 2020.

Steps to Create an Account:

  • Click on this link https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html
  • Click on Create a Parent Account
  • Request an Access Key-the key will be emailed to the email address the school has on file
  • Complete the form
  • Retrieve the Access Key and go to the Create Parent Account page
  • Add your student(s) to Your Account

OR

If they do not have an account, they can call the school and Mrs. Brodbin can book their conference for them.  There is only 12 spots per grade. Unfortunately, drop ins will not be accepted.

Students who do not get a course change appointment will have a chance to sign up for changes on September 3rd and 4th with Mr. Jewan.

Drop Off/Pickup/Parking

WinSport is asking students to be dropped off and picked up on the west side of the building where the school entrance is located.  This will allow fewer touches of doors as students enter and exit the building.  Please be aware this is a parking lot with tenets coming and going at different times.  Student are ask not to park in the lot directly in front of the school.  The Hall of Fame lot and the west gravel lot are where the students should be parking.
