School Property

Skateboards, Rollerblades and Scooters

These items are not allowed on school property.

Smoking (Admin Regulation 4024)

Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes/Vapes are not permitted anywhere within the school buildings or on school property. Students must also respect the property of neighbours in the community including the Genesis Centre.

Section 2 of the Prevention of Youth Tobacco Act states: “No person under the age of 18 years may possess or smoke or otherwise consume tobacco products in a public place.” Violation of the smoking policy could result in community service, home suspension and/or a fine.

Trespassing on School Property

Students, parents and visitors should be aware that Section 21 of the School Act states that no person shall:

  1. Disturb or interrupt the proceedings of a school.
  2. Loiter or trespass in a school building or on property owned by a school board.

All parents and visitors must report to the office.

NMHS students visiting another school without permission of school authorities may result in trespass charges being issued. Similarly, non-students who loiter around NMHS will be given a trespass warning and maybe charged for trespassing under Section 21, 1, C of the School Act.
