Dressed to Learn
New Brighton School is committed to being a school focused on learning. Dressed to Learn for us means, that we choose clothing that is appropriate for learning in a school setting. Please support your child to make good decisions by:
- Dressing them appropriately for the weather and for the learning tasks. (Being outdoors for Phys-Ed, field trips and recess often requires extra layers, snow pants, warm coats, mitts, head wear or rain gear.)
- Choosing clothing designs that are respectable and appropriate for young children.
Indoor / Outdoor Shoes
In order to keep the school clean and safe, we ask that all children keep a pair of running shoes at school for indoor use only. These shoes should have light coloured soles. If students are unable to tie their own shoes they should have slip-ons or velcro straps.
Use Labels
We advise labelling your child's belongings to aid in the timely return of misplaced items. Labels can be applied to clothing, such as sweaters, jackets, shoes, boots, hats, mittens and gloves, as well as food containers, backpacks, lunch kits and book bags.
Items are sorted for retrieval in the main halls on occasions when parents come for special events and interviews. Uncollected Items are packed up and delivered to a charity several times throughout the year including Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break.
