It is important that you call the lunchtime program attendance line if your child is absent.

Hours & Supervision

Lunch Break M,T,Th 12:42 PM to 1:23 PM Wed.12:24 PM to 1:04 PM 

All students are encouraged to remain on campus throughout lunch hour. All Grade 5 and 6 students will eat lunch in the auxiliary gym where tables and supervision are provided from 12:42 to 1:23 PM. From 1:05 PM to 1:23 PM Grade 5 and 6 students will be expected to go outside, under the supervision of a staff member. Grade 5 and 6 students are not permitted to leave the school campus during the school day, unless arrangements to go home for lunch have been made.

Grade 7, 8 and 9 students have permission to leave the campus at lunch provided they return to school on time for classes. Students unable to manage themselves appropriately off-campus or whom arrive consistently late, may have this privilege revoked.

Lunch supervision is provided throughout the lunch break for Grades 5 and 6 students at Nickle School. Please visit our Lunch Supervision page for more information.

There is no eating in the upper level, including the Learning Commons and stairwells unless under direct supervision of a teacher.

Fun Lunches

Our  Healthy Hunger fun lunches gives our students an opportunity to eat lunch, socialize with their friends at school and take part in special activities. Here are our upcoming fun lunches:

  • January 19 – A&W
  • February 23 - Boston Pizza
  • March 16 - KFC
  • April 13 - Edo of Japan

Please log in to Healthy Hunger to order. The deadline to place orders online is 5 calendar days before the date of the fun lunch.

Snack Shack Vouchers - Not Currently Available 

Vouchers for the snack shack are available for students that have forgotten their lunch at home. Students must call a parent/guardian and have them speak with the office staff before a voucher will be given to the student.  Payment for their food purchase must be sent to the school and given to the office the next school day.

Allergies

Parents must indicate any special health concerns on the school registration for their child and are encouraged to ensure classroom teachers are also aware of health issues. For more information about this and other health concerns visit our Illness & Medical page
