The Bonavista Band Parents Association’s mandate is to assist the program both financially, through fundraising, and structurally, through organization and volunteer labor. Parents that have a student in the Nickle band program are automatically considered a member of the association. The success of the Bonavista Band Parents Association (BBPA) lies with its members. The Executive Board of Directors meets once a month and is made up of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary as well as other selected Members at Large who coordinate such activities as Casino, Student Accounts, and Fundraising. A new executive is elected at our general meeting at the start of each school year.
Fundraising
The Bonavista Band Parents Association (BBPA) is the non-profit fundraising arm set up specifically to support the amazing band program at Nickle. In order for your band teacher, Mr. Jensen, to provide exceptional learning opportunities beyond the basic CBE curriculum, we offer students the opportunity to raise funds to offset future costs for band trips and other activities. Some fundraising profits will be placed in the general band account, and utilized for a variety of costs not covered by Casino funds, and some will be split and a portion designated as a credit to the individual band students account. These individual credits remain in the students account for as long as they are involved in band, or until they choose to apply accrued amounts to specific band activities. At the end of their involvement with the Nickle Band, any remaining credit will be dissolved.
Meeting Schedule
Bonavista Band Parents Association Monthly Meeting open to all parents of students involved in band at Nickle School. Meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the first Wednesday of the month. See our Calendar page for dates and times.
