Genre of the Month- Poetry & Novels In Verse

So you might be one of those people who wonder why on earth anyone would want to read poetry.   Poetry has gotten a bit of a reputation for being a form of writing that is very confusing, even among adults, but it doesn't have to be.  Poetry can have many purposes, just as novels do.  They can be silly limericks which aim to make you laugh.  They can create a mood with the choice of words and pauses used,  leaving you feeling as though you are in the middle of a windstorm, relaxing peacefully in a beautiful flower garden, or even participating a frantic race against time.  They can tell you a story through a novel in verse, or give you a feeling of comfort and familiarity as you explore an old book from Dr. Seuss or Shel Silverstein.  So if it has been a while since you have picked up a poetic piece of literature, now is the time to try one of these popular choices below.   Don't take too long, they might be all gone.  In fact, as Shel Silverstein might say, 'be an early bird'.
