Oki, Danit’ada, Umba-watich, Tansi, Tawnshi, Bonjour, Hello!
I'm delighted to extend a warm welcome to the 2023-24 school year! It's an incredible honour to introduce myself as your new principal and to be a part of this exceptional community of educators, parents, and, most importantly, our students. Meeting many of you and your families at the opening pancake breakfast brought me great joy. I anticipate seeing you again and meeting more families at our Open House and Meet the Teacher event on Thursday, September 14, between 5 and 7 p.m.Allow me to share a bit about my background. I was born and raised in the southern region of Treaty 7, where my educational journey began. After completing my studies at the University of Lethbridge, I established my home in Mohkinstsis with my husband, two children, and our cherished four-legged companions. Over more than two decades, I've dedicated myself to educating students within the Calgary Board of Education.Stepping into this role, I find myself reflecting on the profound impact my teachers had on me during my formative years. Looking back on my early education, the dedication of my teachers to kindle my love for learning ignited my dream of becoming a teacher, a dream that took shape as early as grade 2.As we embark on this school year, I want to express my profound appreciation for our dedicated staff. They wholeheartedly share a commitment to helping our students build a strong academic foundation in a nurturing environment that embraces and celebrates Indigenous identity. Like tending to a garden, educating young minds requires care and creating the best conditions for growth. I am committed to fostering a safe and nurturing space deeply rooted in the wisdom of the Medicine Wheel and the Seven Sacred Teachings.I eagerly look forward to the opportunity to get to know each student and to collaborate with all of you in helping them reach their highest potential. My door is always open for questions, feedback, or for a friendly chat over a cup of tea.Welcome to a year dedicated to sowing the seeds of education and nurturing a love for learning in our students!Respectfully,Ms. TracyPrincipal, Niitsitapi il tass ksiii nii mat tsoo kop (Niitsitapi Learning Centre)
