Oki! Tansi! Taanishi! Âba wathtech! Hello!

My name is Shauna Penner and I am excited to see all of our students and families as we embark on another year of learning and growing together. I was born and raised in Mohkinstis (Calgary) and am grateful to make my home on the lands of Treaty 7. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time camping, boating, swimming, traveling, and reading with my family. The place I feel most connected to Na’a is definitely on or near water (creeks, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc.); there is something incredibly peaceful and soothing about listening to the sounds of water.

 We all have stories to tell and I am looking forward to working alongside your children this year to help them develop and share their stories. We will explore literacy through listening, speaking, reading, and writing this year. Teaching reading and writing is one of my passions and I can’t wait to see the joy and confidence that builds in our students as they develop foundational skills and see themselves as independent, fluent readers and writers.
