Indigenous Education Team Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework
The Calgary Board of Education recognizes that a key strategy to support all students includes honouring Indigenous knowledge systems. The Indigenous Education Team in consultation with Elders, Community Members and Educators designed the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework that guides and supports our work with students.
Holistic Learning
The goal of programming at the Niitsitapi Learning Centre is to provide a holistic, strength based, early learning environment with a focus on a building a strong sense of Indigenous identity and academic rigor to enhance each child's long-term success in school. We want our students to build a strong academic foundation in a learning environment that reflects and nurtures their Spirit, Heart, Body and Mind while honouring the diversity of Indigenous cultures, languages and ways of knowing, being, doing and learning.
