Students in the Calgary Board of Education travel to school in a variety of ways, including walking, taking yellow buses or Calgary Transit or being driven by parents/guardians. Their safety is important, no matter how they get to school and home again.

Getting to School

After School Pick Up

For the first week of school, teachers will stay outside with the children until approximately 3:40 PM to ensure that they are picked up. Starting the second week of school, we expect that children are aware of their meeting spot and can go there independently to meet parents or guardians.

Teachers will also be advising children on how to walk to the front office doors and ring the bell for entry in the event that they are late or arrive at a locked door. We ask that parents be on time and arrive before the 3:35 bell (1:05 on Fridays) so that the end of the day ends smoothly for all of our students.

If you are running late, please contact us at 403-817-3444 to let us know and proceed to the school office to pick up your child.

Kinder Care & Before and After School Care

Little Steps Before and After School Care program is located within Northern Lights School and offers both Kindergarten care for the half of the day our Kindergarten students are not in school, as well as Before and After School Care to students in grades one to five.  Visit littlestepsbac.ca to find more information and to register your child.

If you are not utilizing Little Steps, please ensure your child has adequate care arrangements outside of school hours.
