Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Parking & Drop-Off

Hug & Go

In the morning between 8:50 and 9:05, students in Grades 1 through 5 can be dropped off in the Hug & Go Zone at the front of the school. We ask that vehicles pull properly into an available spot, have their children jump out and say goodbye, and then pull out to allow the traffic to flow effectively. This is a 90-second drop off zone.  Parents / guardians are not to park or leave their vehicles, and children should not be getting out of a vehicle that is not pulled into a proper spot. Children dropped of in the Hug & Go Zone are to go onto the school playground area where they may play under teacher supervision until the bell rings. This method of drop off is a convenient alternative to trying to find parking on the street at this very busy time of day. We strongly encourage parents of children in Grades 1 through 5 to use the Hug & Go Zone as much as possible.

At the end of the day, parents / guardians may stop in the Hug & Go Zone to wait for their children but are asked not to leave their vehicles.  We also ask that people do not double park.  If no space is available to pull into, we ask that drivers continue around the loop until a spot opens up.  For safety, at no time should children be getting into a vehicle that is not pulled properly into a spot.

Morning Supervision

There is no teacher supervision before 8:50 AM.  Children are expected to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before bell times in the morning and afternoon.
