Attendance Line: 403-777-6061 ext. 1.
Regular attendance and punctuality is the responsibility of the parent / guardians. Poor attendance or chronic lates have a significant, direct adverse affect on a student’s learning. Parents are requested to inform the school by phone or note if a student will be absent or late. An explanation of the absence is required. The safety and security of students is always our top priority. If we do not receive notification of the absence, the parents/guardians, or emergency contacts of the child will receive a phone call from the office. Chronic absenteeism or lates will be followed up by school administration and referrals made to the attendance officer if required.
Lates
It is important that students arrive to school on time and be prepared for class. Students who arrive late are asked to report to the office to receive a late slip before going to class, otherwise a phone call will be made to report the student absent. Late slips should be given to the classroom teacher.
Appointments During the School Day
Please notify the office when students are required to leave for medical, dental, or other appointments. For safety and security, students will not leave the school during class time until parents have signed them out at the office.
Family Holidays – Extended Leaves
We attend school for 180 days – the other 185 days students are on holidays. If you are planning on taking your child out of school for a holiday please let the office and your child’s teacher know. A holiday does not constitute as an excused absence even if we know the student is out of the country. It is not the responsibility of the teacher to provide schoolwork while the student is on holidays. A prolonged absence can impact negatively on the student’s education.
