Health Measures for the 2022-23 School Year

The CBE takes the health and safety of our students and staff seriously. As we begin the 2022-23 school year, there are no current COVID-19 public health measures in place that impact CBE schools.

We continue to encourage general health measures for all students and staff to reduce the risk of transmission of all illnesses; these include such things as staying home when sick and practicing good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. We will also be maintaining high touchpoint cleaning as a standard practice across all schools.

Students and staff can continue to make their own decisions regarding masking.

In Spring 2022, the CBE upgraded to MERV 13 filters in schools wherever possible. These filters will continue to be utilized this school year and are changed more frequently. In addition, all schools are mechanically ventilated and systems are set to maximize air exchange.

We will continue to internally monitor student and staff absences this school year. It may still be necessary to transition individual classes or grades to at-home learning as required due to operational challenges. Families will be notified by their school in the event their child's class is impacted.

As we have done throughout the pandemic, we continue to follow the guidance and direction provided by Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. If new measures are announced, they will be communicated with families and staff before they are implemented in our schools.
