Athletics

Extra-curricular programs are one important aspect of a school community that builds school spirit, belonging and valuable life skills. The Peter Lougheed THUNDER Athletics Program is one of the many extra-curricular options available to students this year. THUNDER Athletics will provide students with the opportunity to participate in various inter-school sports through the Calgary Middle Level Schools Amateur Athletics (CMLSAA). CMLSAA athletics teams are available to students in Grades 6, 7, 8 and 9. At Peter Lougheed School, we will also provide grade 5 athletics clubs to correspond with many of our competitive teams.

At Peter Lougheed we participate in a full complement of middle school athletics programs, including:

  • Cross Country Running (No Tryout Required) – September to October
  • Soccer – September to November
  • Volleyball – September to November
  • Wrestling (No Tryout Required) – November to January
  • Basketball – January to March
  • Badminton – April to May
  • Track and Field – April to May

All Sports

  • Students MUST complete the “Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout” form in the Peter Lougheed Opening Package that is distributed each September.
  • Please be sure to check “yes’” to ALL sports that you would allow your child to participate in.  Students’ interests will change throughout the year and, therefore, a new form will be required if a student decides to tryout for a sport that was not previously approved.
  • Full practice and game schedules will be posted outside the gym once available.

RT @yyCBEdu: Earlier today we shared an update with CBE families with some important system information https://t.co/I4ROzvbQ3E #yycbe #WeAreCBE https://t.co/QYcLZRzma2

RT @UsihChristopher: Important: Anyone who has been directed to isolate by AHS must not return to school or their workplace during their isolation period. It is also important that if you’ve had a COVID-19 test, you must not return to school until you get your results, even if you are feeling better.

Wishing all our @PLougheedCBE families a Diwali that brings happiness, prosperity, and joy! https://t.co/6VE8YG3EyU

RT @yyCBEdu: A new daily COVID-19 symptoms checklist for children under 18 goes into effect on Monday, November 2. Please make sure to review the new checklist to determine if your child is able to go to school and if you need a COVID-19 test https://t.co/8bPGQxIDHl #yycbe #WeAreCBE https://t.co/GMtFtxKXPj

RT @UsihChristopher: There are a number of CBE & Alberta Health resources available to help families understand what they’re required to do if their child is sick – when you must isolate, when to be tested, how long you must stay home and when you can go back to school. For info, visit CBE website.

RT @UsihChristopher: Proud of the way the entire CBE community has come together to support the ongoing learning &wellbeing of our students. As the weather starts to become colder, it’ll be more important than ever for everyone to be mindful of the health regulations & to stay home if feeling unwell.

RT @yyCBEdu: It is important for your school to have your most up-to-date email address on file. We also recommend you subscribe to receive all SchoolMessenger email notices from your school and the system. Visit https://t.co/2TEnRV9cy9 for more information. #yycbe https://t.co/Zqg6VxLNNr
