November Principal Message

Hello Pineridge Families,

We have completed another month of school. What a month it has been. Here are a few highlights from November! As always, if you have any questions, comments or feedback please let me know.

Events and Activities
SPARK has started (morning movement/exercise for select students needing movement/exercise to start their school day)
Grade 6 Patrols has started
Student Council Advisory has started
Buddy classes are up and running

EdMatters Diverse Books Grant
EdMatters has provided $6500 for Pineridge to purchase diverse books. The intent of diverse books is that ALL students see themselves (language, culture, religion, gender, communities, home countries, special events, etc) represented in the school. Current research shows a direct connection between diverse books in classrooms leading to increased well-being, connection, and community. We are happy to announce we spent all $6500 on diverse books, including over 130 titles ranging from picture books to novels. Staff will be engaging in critical literacy professional learning in January as we prepare to create diverse classroom libraries. This is VERY exciting for the Pineridge School Community!

Student Learning
Again, so much amazing learning has taken place during October. Students are well into so many amazing learning experiences. As I visit classrooms I am seeing first-hand how students are motivated, engaged, and achieving. Great job students!

Teacher Learning
Teachers professional learning focused on task design and assessment. This work will continue throughout the year. Teachers are well into their Professional Learning Community meetings and Collaborative Response Meetings. Both PLCs and CR focus on increasing student achievement and well-being! We have already seen both of these. Great job teachers!

School Development Plan:
Our 2023-24 School Development Plan has been approved and uploaded to our website. Click HERE to check it out

School Council

School Council has approved funding for:

dance residency. The entire school will get to participate and enjoy the dance residency. The dance residency will take place in the new year

Open Minds for grade ½ students

Elder Frank

We are happy to share that all the shifts for our upcoming casino have been filled. This is great news as the casino will likely provide approximately $60,000 for Pineridge School!
