One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council Involvement

Pineridge School Council and Parent Society (PSPA) hold their meetings on the first Monday of each month. Parent involvement plays an important role at Pineridge School. During the 2022-23 school year, School Council hosted a casino which enabled them to cover the costs associated with the school Indigenous Traditional Cultural Knowledge and Drumming residency and paid for one bus per class as fieldtrip transportation.  A casino is slated for approximately a year from now, with proceeds going toward the enhancement of learning at the school as linked to the School Development Plan and collaboratively decided with school staff members.

Meeting Dates/Schedule

The School Council meeting will run from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Pineridge school every other month, usually on the first Monday. (please check the School Council fb page for more information)
