School Within a School

Due to construction delays the physical location of Prairie Sky school will not be opening on September 1, 2022. We will be operating using the ‘school within a school’ model.

The ‘school within a school’ model is used when a new school’s opening is delayed, requiring it to open mid-way through the school year. The model is intended to make the transition to the new school easier by keeping students together with their teachers and peers.

What this means for our students is that they will be in classes with only other students who are registered with Prairie Sky school and with teachers who will be teaching at Prairie Sky School. When our new location is ready all of our students and staff will physically move to the new school.

Our students will be attending the following schools while we are operating using the ‘school within a school’ model:

  • Hugh A Bennett School – Kindergarten
  • Annie Foote School – Grades 1 to 5
  • Monterey Park School – Grades 1 to 5
  • Dr. Gordon Higgins School – Grades 6 to 8

Registration Information

Please visit our How to Register page for all registration details and registration forms.

Our school office opens on August 2, 2022 for registration. Please email us at PrairieSky@cbe.ab.ca with inquiries.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

While we are operating on the 'school within a school' model, Prairie Sky students will be eligible for bussing.

Yellow school bus routes for the 2022-23 school year are created over the summer based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times can be up to six weeks at the beginning go the school year due to increased volume. You are strongly encouraged to register for bussing services in advance.

More information about 2022-23 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.
