Phone-in for Safety – Absences and Lates

Regular school attendance is essential. We understand there are times when children must miss school for appointments or due to illness. We would ask that parents phone our attendance line above if their child is going to be absent or late. The line is checked twice each day. As a courtesy, the school secretary will try to phone parents at home or at work if a child is absent and if we have not been informed of the absence.

Students needing to leave school early are to be signed out of the office by a parent. All children are expected to go directly home following dismissal. Students who are consistently late will have their parents phoned by the classroom teacher. If there is no change in attendance, a reminder letter will be sent home. Persistent absences will require an attendance plan be put into place.

Holidays – Transfers – Moves

If any families are planning to go on a holiday or are moving, please give the teacher and the office some advance notice. Parents are also reminded to keep the office informed of any address or telephone changes that may occur throughout the year.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

We believe there is a strong correlation between attendance and effective education. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students regulation applies to all of our students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
