Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

Back to School Information

Students are encouraged to take advantage of Early Entry drop in on Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday, August 31.  Please come anytime between 8:30 am and 11:30 am or 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm either day (it should take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete everything).

Students will be able to return any resources from last year, hand in forms that can be located online at (https://www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/forms-you-need/Pages/default.aspx) and have their Lifetouch photo taken and school ID card issued. Participating in early entry assists the school to focus on instruction once classes start, so that students can focus on learning. Students, please be prepared (dress, hair) to have your school photo taken.

For all students: please have basic school supplies (pen, pencil and paper) with you on the first day.

School begins for all students on Thursday, September 1, 2022.  Junior high students will attend all day and high school students will attend in the afternoon, beginning at 12:48.  This day is designed to welcome students, and begin the transition to junior high and senior high school, respectively. The day is planned to prepare students for the first full day of classes; it is not an optional attendance day. Students must bring their own lunch. Buses will run on their regular schedule.

All students (grades 7-12) will attend school on Friday, September 2.   On that day, students are expected to be at school prior to 8:55 a.m.  Buses will run on their regular schedule. Check your MyCBE/PowerSchool account in late August for your bus stop location.

The CBE is moving many forms to our online environments.  The following forms will need to be filled out, either online or in paper copy:  Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout, Student Health Emergency Response Protocol Form, Student Health Plan, School District Use of Personal Information, Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups, and Consent for CBE Use of Student Information, Student Demographic Sheet.   Further information regarding the forms and if they are online or in paper will come over the summer or in early September.  All forms are due to be submitted by September 30, 2022.  Only complete the two health forms if they apply to your child.

At Queen Elizabeth High School, we communicate information with parents and guardians in a variety of ways. For current information, parents should regularly consult our school website at http://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/queenelizabethhs/Pages/default.aspx.   Our school will send out email messages with important reminders, timely announcements, etc. Watch for Knights' Notes every Wednesday.  This email contains current information for all families.

Early in the school year, it is natural for students to get lost, wonder if anyone will get to know them, and to ask many questions. Parents often ask many of the same questions or wonder the same things. At the first School Council meeting on September 19, 2022 (7:00 pm) important orientation information about our school will be presented. We strongly encourage your attendance.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2022-23 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

More information about 2022-23 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.
