Home of the Owls!

Radisson Park School is a Kindergarten to Grade Five School that serves families in the communities of Albert Park and Radisson Heights.

The school opened in the fall of 2006, and was the first new school to be built in the greater Forest Lawn area in over 50 years. One of the first tasks that students were asked to do was to decide on a mascot that represented the excitement and uniqueness of the new school community.  From the many student suggestions, the owl was chosen as the official Radisson Park mascot because it symbolizes our community:

  • Diverse – There are many types of owls.
  • Resilient – Owls adapt and can live in very harsh conditions and in different environments.
  • Respectful – Owls are very observant.  They live and work well with other owls, and are helpful to nature.
  • Remarkable – Owls are very wise & very observant.  They work hard, listen well, love to learn, and will do whatever it takes to succeed.

At Radisson Park School, learning is our central purpose. We work to personalize learning opportunities for “every student, every day, no exceptions.”  Our school is organized into multi-aged classrooms, which provides an extended time for students and staff to build strong, positive relationships while students move forward with learning.  This organization allows us to better celebrate diversity, and to recognize the unique strengths and talents of each student.

Teachers work closely together in grade teams and Professional Learning Communities to discuss and improve teaching and learning strategies in areas such as literacy, numeracy, task design, and assessment for learning.  Each day teachers strive to provide engaging learning opportunities that focus on success for all students.

​​​Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, made a TRC Commitment to Action. On June 21, we renewed our commitment, which can be found under Resources.​​

Acknowledging the Land

We would like to acknowledge the traditional territories and oral practices of the Blackfoot Nations, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani and the Kainai. We also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Métis Nation, and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.​​

​​​School Development Plan

​Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.​​​

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school.
