Lunchtime

Lunch Supervision

We provide students with the option of staying at school for lunch. Lunch Supervision is offered to all students in Kindergarten – Grade 5. This service provides students with the opportunity to practice social skills supported by caring adult supervision. All students will begin eating lunch at 11:30 in an assigned classroom and will go outside at 12:00 pm for 25 minutes of supervised playtime. It is the responsibility of parents to provide a healthy lunch and snack. Please visit our Lunch Supervision page for more information.

Milk Program

There is no milk program this year.

Healthy Snacks and Lunches

Learning is hard work and children’s bodies need lots of healthy food to keep them energized throughout the day. Please do not send candy, chips, or pop for lunch/snack, and instead save these treats for special occasions.

We ask that you do not send lunches that require heating. You can imagine the problems we have as children wait in line to use a microwave. We are very concerned that our young children could be burned so we have to have adults helping at the microwaves. This means that there are fewer supervisors available to circulate around the lunchroom and children are waiting a long time to eat.

Breakfast Cafe

The Breakfast Cafe is a supervised breakfast program that operates in our school. The primary aim of this program is to provide breakfast for hungry children regardless of the circumstances of their hunger. Children are provided with nutritious breakfast options, and through conversation and activities, are encouraged to make healthy choices as they develop good eating habits. It is hard for children to concentrate in class when they are hungry, and any child is welcome to attend the program at no cost, no registration.
