Opening Months - 2022-2023 Year

As our opening months end, I would like to take a few moments to reflect on what we have accomplished at Ramsay School. Our first term has been a very rewarding and exciting time, as we welcomed back all of our returning students alongside many new families joining our school community.

Our staff are working hard to create a very Welcoming, Caring, Safe, and Inclusive learning environment to ensure all students feel connected and are successful in their learning.

Classrooms have been buzzing with intellectually engaging learning tasks during the past few months. All classrooms have enjoyed the wonderful fall weather to go outside, explore our community and extend their learning outside of the classroom onto the land. Remember to ask your child what they learned about each day and the connections that they have made.

School Development Plan (SDP) and Professional Learning

During September and October, our staff spent time looking at our school learning data, ensuring that our three-year School Development Plan is focused on supporting our three goals: Well-being, Literacy and Mathematics.

Our three-year School Development Plan (outlining our goals, strategies and actions), School Improvement Results Report (explaining progress towards our SDP goals during the 2021-2022 school year), and Report to Parents on Fees 2021-22 will be posted on our website at the end of November.

Staff have continued to develop their practice and understanding through the CBE System Wide Indigenous Professional Learning Day on October 7th. Through this day, we were able to deepen our understanding of Truth and Reconciliation and learn ways to incorporate Indigenous perspectives into learning. We continue to develop our Professional Learning this year by spending time learning about New Curriculum and its implementation.

School Residency

Students were very excited in September to learn soccer skills when we hoisted Clubb Sport Soccer for a full-week residency. It was wonderful to see students out of the field learning the sport and developing skills through active soccer play.

Open House / Student Learning Conferences

We want to thank all parents/guardians who attended our Open House in September. We will be having our Student Learning Conferences on November 24 and 25, 2022. We hope that all parents can join us to discuss the learning that has taken place so far. We appreciate your continued support of your child’s learning at our school and your partnership with the school is invaluable. Specific conference information will be sent to parents at the beginning of November.

School Council and School Society

Parents and community members are important partners in public education. Through school councils, our partners can make significant and meaningful contributions to the learning opportunities provided to CBE students– CBE The Role of School Council

We were very excited to have had two School Council meetings and to work alongside parents and families to provide the best learning environment possible for all of our students. School Council was excited to host a welcome Taco Night in September, which many families attended. This was a great community event where families were able to get to know each other while enjoying Tacos on the field! Our Ramsay Parent Society has also been busy this month with hosting a casino event and planning for ways to support learning experiences at the school, including Field Trips, Residencies, Technology, Art and many other areas.

This has been an exciting first few months of the school year and I am very excited to learn alongside our community and ensure the success of all of our students!

Sincerely,

Shane

Dear Ramsay School Families,

This the final Monday Message of the 2021-2022 school year! Have a wonderful summer ahead. I hope it includes a just-right amount of fun, adventure and rejuvenation.

Thanks for everything, Ramsay. You are amazing!

Welcome, Mr. Turner!

Last Friday afternoon, it was announced that Mr. Shane Turner has been appointed as Ramsay School's new principal. Mr. Turner has a wealth of experience and knowledge that he brings to Ramsay and sincerely looks forward to getting to know each of the students and families at Ramsay in the fall.

Grade 6 Farewell

This afternoon at 1:00 p.m. we will get to honor our Grade 6 students and say farewell. It will be an awesome afternoon celebrating their accomplishments with families. Thank you to Mrs. MacLeod, Mrs. McGrath and Mrs. Serra for supporting the students around their Grade 6 farewell celebration.

Activity Day Fun

It was a wet and windy Activity Day, but also very fun. Our Student Council members did a great job running the horseshoe station, barrel racing, line dancing and a few other stations. The students loved the lasso art with their buddies. Thanks to the parents who helped organize and support the fun hotdog food truck for the students during Activity Day and for Carol who organized Harry the Horse to come down from the Stampede to visit.
