School Access - Locked Doors and Security
The outside doors to Ramsay School are locked at all times. When outside with students, staff members unlock doors using their door pass cards to allow entry into the building. The video monitored entry system allows office personnel to determine who is at the door and to admit arrivals without having to leave the front desk. Individuals wishing to gain entry must press the appropriate doorbell button. A video camera then displays the individual’s image on a screen in the office. Once admitted, the person must sign in at the office.
Visitors and Volunteers
Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s classroom learning. At this time, the Calgary Board of Education is not allowing guests or volunteers inside schools.
Picking Your Child Up
A sign-out book is kept inside the two front doors of the main entrance. Parents can call the office to let us know of the necessity to pick up your child early. Please also help us to be aware of any custody agreements that may dictate who your child is permitted to leave the school with. Copies of these documents should be given to the secretary. Please note that upon dismissal, all students will be picked up at their designated location outside.
After School Supervision
Please be reminded that students must leave the school field and playground after school and go home unless they have direct parent supervision. School staff members are not available to supervise outside after school. We are glad to keep kids safe in the office until parents arrive. If you have made an arrangement for another parent to supervise your child after school, please send a signed note to the office so we can ensure that they are put in the hands of their designated adult. We cannot let students go on the say-so of another parent unless authorized.
