Wishing you all a wonderful summer

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As the school year comes to an end I want to wish you all a relaxing and restful summer. It has been a school year like no other, with ever changing health restrictions and many people in our community being affected by COVID. Parents have had to be flexible as classes move between on-line and in person. As we had our final school council meeting, we paused to reflect on the year and looked forward with optimism to next year. We hope to be able to have more face to face interactions and recover from this long and challenging pandemic. I want to say, Thank You. Thank you for your understanding. Thank you for your patience and thank you for your kindness. Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing you all in September. The first day of school is September 1st, 2022.

Kind Regards,
Steve Wigglesworth

School Council meeting in-person June 14th

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Spring is in the air and June is upon us. We are excited to be shifting our June School Council meeting, on the 14th, to in-person at the school. We will have treats and time to socialize in addition to our meeting. Please come out and support your child's school and share your thoughts and ideas. The meeting starts at 6:45 in the Learning Commons. All parents/guardians are welcome.

Our grade six students will celebrate the end of their elementary school experience with parents on June 23 at 10am. Please connect with Ms. Musto if you plan to attend or have questions.

As the weather in Calgary can change quickly, please ensure your child is prepared for cooler or wet conditions during the day.

Our last day of school this year is June 28. It is a full day. Classes resume on September 1, 2022 for next school year.

Kind Regards,

Steve Wigglesworth

Thank you for helping keep school safe

Dear Parent/Guardian,

With the return to in-person learning at school on January 10, 2022, I want to say thank you to everyone continuing to be diligent about health and safety. Please do not send your child to school if they are sick and please complete the daily check list from Alberta Health Services before they do come to school. Masks continue to be mandatory and students are supported to hand wash/sanitize regularly. As we continue to maneuver through this pandemic every small action to promote health is important and appreciated. Welcome back to school and Happy New Year.

Regards,

Steve Wigglesworth

Happy Holidays

Dear Parents/Guardian,

I want to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season and for those who celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas. It continues to be a complex and challenging time as new variants arise and the pandemic seems to have no end in sight. I sincerely want to thank you for your diligence in following health measures in support of keeping all students and staff healthy and safe at school. I hope you are able to find time to relax and enjoy your children over the holiday break. Whether reading a good book, tobogganing or playing a game, enjoy the blessing your children are and the time you have with them. May your holiday be filled with laughter and joy.

Kind Regards,

Dress for the Weather

Winter is upon us and the weather is turning cold. It is very important that students come to school dressed in layers and prepared to be outside. Students do spend time out doors at lunch and recess every day. Please make sure that a toque and mitts are in their backpacks even if it seems warmer. It is also very helpful if you label your child's name on all items they bring to school. We have many clothing items in our lost and found. Thank you for dressing for the weather, it keeps our children safe and makes playing outdoor great fun.

Regards,
Steve Wigglesworth

Orange Shirt Day

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please join us on September 29th in wearing orange as we recognize and honour the lives of our Indigenous community members who are survivors of residential schools. We also remember the thousands of children who did not survive or return home from residential schools. As September 30th is now the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada we will be exploring this part of our history that has been hidden. We will discuss this history of residential schools and how we can move forward to respect, honour and live with dignity for all people who call Canada home.

Respectfully,
Steve Wigglesworth

Welcome Back!!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to school. We are excited to have both new and returning students join us for the first day of classes. Please remember that masks are required at school and the Alberta Health Daily Checklist needs to be reviewed daily. At this time, we are limiting access to the school to appointments only and continue to cohort our students at school. We appreciate your continued support as we strive to keep our students, staff and families safe during this on-going pandemic. We look forward to a great year and are excited to be back at school. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.

Regards,

It has been a year like no other and we again want to thank parents/guardians for all their support and patience as our world has maneuvered through this pandemic.  We look forward to when we can have a little more normal in our school.

We also wish all the best to staff who will be leaving Ranchlands School for other opportunities. The following staff will be moving on:

We wish everyone a safe and relaxing summer. School starts back on September 1, 2021. We welcome all returning students and new students to Ranchlands School on that day. The office will be open August 27, 30 & 31 if there are any questions. Have a great summer.
