Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

Student Supervision

Student supervision begins at 7:45 AM. Students should not arrive prior to that time. Once students have been dismissed for the day, they are expected to move off the grounds and be on their way home.

School Supplies

Parents need to provide a clean pair of non-marking running shoes that students can keep in their classroom, a lunch (if the student stays for lunch) and a snack.  There is no supply list for Riverbend School.  Supplies will be provided to students through parent-paid fees (see section below, "Fees and Waivers").

School Calendar

We are a school that follows the Traditional calendar. View our school's Calendar for upcoming events and dates.

Noon Supervision

Riverbend School offers a 4-day Noon Supervision program to all students as a user-pay service. All students staying for lunch must be registered. Please visit our Lunchtime page for more details.

Lunch Schedule

The lunch schedule will be determined for 2021-22 based on any health restrictions that may be in place at that time.

Assigned Teachers

Prior to the first day of school, you will receive a personalized email from your child’s teacher introducing themselves and providing you with information and instructions regarding the first day of school.  This email will come out at 2pm on Tuesday, August 31.

Kindergarten Staggered Entry

Kindergarten classes will begin with a staggered entry.  The dates and which students are expected will vary based on your child's assigned class.  This information was sent to all registered families on Friday, June 11 and Monday, June 14.  If you registered later, your information would have come in a separate email after your registration.  Please contact the school in late June or late August if you are a registered Kindergarten family and you do not know your child's staggered entry date.

Registration Information

Please visit our How to Register page for all registration details and forms.

Our school office opens on Friday, August 27 for registration.

Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and noon supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.

Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

More information about 2021-22 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE / PowerSchool account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.
