We have learned 4 different strategies to do addition with regrouping. :)

Week of December 13- 17, 2021 *We are still collecting Loonies for Lunches all week!*

Monday (Classroom Door Decorating Day!)

For students who are bringing their mealworms/beetles home, the following information is important:

It is important to offer your mealworms lots of fresh fruits and veggies in addition to dry foods. They cannot drink water and get all their needed moisture from the foods they consume. These worms can eat a huge variety of fresh fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, peaches, bananas, and many others.

Tuesday (Ugly/Funny/Favourite Christmas or Winter Sweater Day!)

It was great to see everyone wearing their sweaters today! :) We are finishing up with our social and science projects in the next two days. Our virtual learning assembly is on Friday morning!

Wednesday (Fun/Holiday Hat Day!)

Thursday (Dress Like an Elf Day!)

Friday (Pajama/Movie Day!)

Our virtual assembly presentation went awesome! Everyone did a great job! We watched the Bee Movie today and got popcorn and juice boxes from parent council (THANK YOU!). We are back to school on Thursday, Jan. 6th, 2022. :) I hope you have a wonderful and safe winter break! Wishing you all the best in the New Year!

Tuesday

To ensure our students and staff make their way into the break as happy as possible, we are letting you know what “special days” we have coming up next week! Participation is NOT MANDATORY!

Countdown to Winter Break!

Thursday

Just a reminder that FRIDAY DECEMBER 10 will be a regular Friday at Roland Michener (school will be from 8:00 - 12:00). Some of  you may still have that date marked on your calendars as a Non-Instructional Day.  We changed this date in order for us to observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th. Please send your children to school as usual tomorrow!

Please note the following:

At this time, we have NO adult sized disposable face masks available to give to your children and VERY LIMITED children sized face masks to give out.

We are asking for you to PLEASE send your child to school with at least TWO masks per day.  One on their face and one in their backpack/pocket as a back-up.

We have ordered more masks - but there is a delay in the shipping and we really need your help with this.

Thank you in advance!

We played a game called "net ball" today- ask me about it. :) Please send a pair of indoor shoes to school with your child as the weather is getting colder and wetter. Costumes can be as simple as wearing orange and black or a colour of the student’s choice or just wearing their regular clothes.

During Halloween activities at school we ask parents to PLEASE ensure the following:

  • No masks as part of non–violent costumes (face paint is OK), Please remember that this must not interfere with the use of face masks in school.
  •  No candy should be sent to school during this day or in the following weeks. Please avoid any nut based snacks.
  • Due to Covid restrictions, we ask that NO FOODS be sent to school to celebrate.

Advisory for Cold Weather - SNOW POSSIBLE FOR FRIDAY

During the winter months cold temperatures, wind chill and snow can make getting to and from school challenging.

Our school and other CBE schools rarely close due to snow or cold weather. Assume we are open unless you hear otherwise from us. Information regarding any school closures due to weather will also be posted on the CBE website, on Twitter (@yyCBEdu) and shared with local news media.

During the winter season we remind parents/guardians of the following:

  • Children should be well prepared for the weather and not left unattended at bus stops for any period of time, under any circumstances
  •  Families should ensure that they have back-up care arrangements if transportation is delayed. Children should have a warm place to stay before and after school (i.e. with a neighbour or a nearby relative).
  • All CBE schools will remain open to provide a safe, warm and secure environment for students

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR CHILD COMES TO SCHOOL WITH GLOVES, HATS AND BOOTS.  Please let us know if you need any help with any of these items.
