Important Dates

We follow the CBE Traditional Calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.

The Alberta Government announced on July 21 that schools will be in Scenario 1 as of Sept. 1, 2020.

The CBE's 2020-21 re-entry plan is subject to change as more information becomes available from the province. We will continue to update schools with more details during the next school year.

You can find the COVID Self-Assessment Tool (daily checklist) in the Government Resources section on the CBE website.

  • Wednesday, September 2, 2020 |  Grades 6, 8 and 9 students
  • Thursday, September 3, 2020 | Grades 5-9 (ALL) students

School Start & End Times

  • Monday - Thursday |  8:55 - 3:30 PM
  • Friday | 8:55 - 12:30 PM
  • Early Dismissal Days | 8:55 - 12:30 PM

Staggered Entry

To ensure a smooth start that sets the tone for reducing the risk of spread and increased safety for all students, we will be implementing a staggered start. This will allow for an orderly orientation of students to the new realities, rules, practices, and procedures of the school environment.

RTA Staggered Start Plan:

  • Tuesday, September 1, 2020: Grade 5 and Grade 7 (This has not changed)
  • Wednesday, September 2, 2020: Grade 6, Grade 8 and Grade 9  (CHANGED)
  • Thursday, September 3, 2020: ALL Grades

School Supply Lists

The CBE believes every student should have the basic tools they need to learn from the first day of school. As CBE adjusts it processes to align with the new Assurance and Funding Framework, grant funding from the province needs to be directed to programming. For the 2020-21 school year, to support student learning, CBE is introducing a school supplies fee for students in kindergarten to Grade 9. The CBE will use its purchasing power to buy items like pens, pencils, and erasers at a reasonable cost and provide supplies to students instead of families purchasing them individually.

The following is a list of items not included in the CBE School Supply Fee.

Grade 5-6 Supply List

  • water bottle
  • athletic shoes
  • agenda (optional)
  • geometry set
  • basic calculator

Grade 7-9 Supply List

Students in grades 7-9 are required to change into a  t-shirt and shorts/sweatpants for their Physical Education classes. Students with long hair should also bring elastics to school to tie their hair back during certain PE modules. Students may bring their own PE clothing from home, or they can purchase RTA attire, with the RTA school logo: The Raven. The RTA Spirit Wear Store will open in late August/early September and in December. Students must have good athletic shoes for their safety and protection. They are not to use hiking shoes, slip-ons or flip-flops for PE class.

School Calendar

We are a school that follows the traditional school calendar. View our School Calendar. For system calendars, visit: www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/calendars

Noon Supervision

Students are encouraged to bring a nutritious lunch to school, including a variety of snacks, should hunger strike. While there is a vending machine, it is only available during non-instructional times. Moreover, as we are a peanut sensitive school, we encourage students be mindful of foods containing nuts.

Registration Information

Visit our How to Register page for all registration details and registration forms.

Our school office opens on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2020-21 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

COVID-19 Changes

  • Only registered students should use transportation services
  • Students are assigned to one stop based on their primary home address for general transportation; alternate stops will not be available
  • Students will be assigned a seat by the driver; students must adhere to the seating plan
