A strong sense of belonging and community within a school is essential for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. When students, teachers, and staff feel like they belong to a community, they are more likely to thrive academically and socially.
With this in mind we are launching our School Spirit initiative called “Les Familles de Sam".
It will focus on strategies and initiatives aimed at fostering a deep sense of belonging and community within our school. All Sam staff and students will be part of a “Familles de Sam" that consists of students from Kindergarten to Grade 4.
In total, four different “Familles de Sam" will be created. The academic and personal development work associated with this initiative will be inspired by Indigenous teachings, specifically the medicine wheel, as students and staff focus on “pillars" of growth in an effort to see and understand oneself in a holistic manner.
Each “Familles de Sam" will be represented by a colour. The 4 colours we have chosen are:
- Yellow
- Light Blue
- Purple
- Green
You will receive an email from the office on Monday, October 16 informing you which colour each child will represent. In our initial organization, all siblings have been designated to the same “Familles de Sam" colour.
Our kick off assembly will be Monday, October 23.
Students are welcome, not required, to wear their colour during the days that we host special school spirit activities throughout the year.
