Edit an Event

Not All Events Are Editable (I Don't See the Gear Icon!!!)

Some common, system-wide events (e.g. Spring Break dates) have been created in a central events list. These events are identified as "system-wide" in their description, as well as indicating which calendar (traditional or modified) they apply to. You're not able to edit these events - if you need a change to an event like this (that includes "system-wide" in the description and does not show the gear icon), please let us know at School Web Support:

Also, make sure you don't duplicate system-wide events that have already been shared to your school when you're creating your own school-specific events.

Approvers can only create new events or modify events created by them or other Approvers at their school. See Troubleshooting & FAQ for further details.

Just Because You Can, Doesn't Mean You Should

You can edit or delete events created by other users at your school. Be careful not to change someone else's event by mistake!

Editing an Event

As with posts, there are two ways to edit an event: you can view the event (in edit mode) and as long as it's not a system event, you can click the gear icon to edit it directly, or, if it's an event you created, you can find it using the Recent Contents function in SiteGovern.

Method 1 - Edit Directly

To edit an event that's published on your site by you or another user at your school, click on the event description to open the event details window:

In the event details window, click on the gear icon and choose Edit Event:

This will take you into the event wizard, where you can edit as usual.

Method 2 - SiteGovern

If you have created an event but not yet published it, this is the only way to edit it. Note that this list only shows events that you have created: you won't be able to see events from other users (central or from your school).

In SiteGovern, go to Recent Contents and choose the content type (shown on the right) from the dropdown. Then, in your list of recent events, choose to edit the on that you'd like to work on:
