Newsletters

Your News Centre has space for links to your school's newsletters for the current school year.

While you have the ability to manage news stories on your site, uploading newsletters works in a different way (and requires different permissions) and isn't part of the advanced editing functionality.

Posting a Newsletter

If you have a newsletter you'd like to have added to your site, please send it to School Web Support and we'll do that for you.

It's Been Fun

Before you send your newsletter in, it may be time to ask if you really need it.

None of this should live exclusively in your newsletter:

  • News or announcements: should now be news stories (posts) on your website
  • Upcoming events: they should be added to your website calendar
  • Update your website content: Information that should stick around for a longer then a couple weeks should be added to the content pages of your school website for parents to find when they need it.

If information is only posted in a newsletter, it may not be seen by the people who need to see it. Along with that, it causes conflicting information on your website. Your website should be the most accurate and up-to-date information, not old newsletters. By posting information directly in your website it becomes more accessible to your users because it is searchable, translatable and easily accessed on a mobile device.

Website First, SchoolMessenger Second

After you create a news item, event, or have an update to your other page content, let people know by sending a broadcast through SchoolMessenger with links back to your website. This method is more timely, more flexible, and less overwhelming for many parents than a weekly or monthly PDF with recaps of past stories and a list of upcoming events.
