Document purpose
This document outlines the importance of good governance of the Calgary Board of Education SharePoint portal (the ‘why’), provides the foundational concepts and values upon which that governance is and will be based (the ‘what’), and provides details of how the portal and its projects are governed (the ‘how’).
This document does not include the specific strategic planning for the portal initiative, and is intended to be a long-term management tool, rather than a set of point-in-time strategic objectives and plans.
About governance
Governance outlines how and why decisions are made in the context of the portal and its related projects. It ensures that the ongoing and future work aligns with the values of the CBE, and that it is within the parameters set by the governing bodies (Superintendents’ Team, Technology Council, and Portal Steering Committee). It encapsulates roles & responsibilities of those managing the portal work, as well as the technical and design teams and business (functional) owners to allow decisions to be made efficiently, reliably, and at the appropriate level in the organization.
