School Start & End Times
- Monday to Thursday: 9:10 AM - 3:40 PM
- Friday: 9:10 AM - 1:20 PM
Staggered Entry
As a result of these efforts, we are beginning our school year by limiting the number of students entering the school over the first three days. The purpose of the plan is:
- To ease the transition of students into school,
- To spend time with smaller groups familiarizing them with our health measures,
- To facilitate physical distancing while teaching the protocols of our health measures.
Our staggered start schedule at SWS will be as follows:
- Tuesday, September 1 - Grade 6, Grade 8 & all PLP
- Wednesday, September 2 - Grade 5, Grade 7 & all PLP
- Thursday, September 3 - Grade 9 & all PLP
- Friday, September 4 – all student attend
Students are to attend for their designated times only. Each staggered start day will follow our regular bell times, with school beginning at 9:10am and dismissal at 3:40pm. Please note, Friday dismissal is at 1:20pm. If your student is registered for transportation, you should have received an email from CBE Transportation with bus stop location and times. This is information is also accessible through your MyCBE Account. Busses will be running daily, beginning September 1.
Masks
When students arrive in the building, they will be required to wear a mask (non-medical masks are acceptable, bandanas and face coverings that you wear around your neck and pull up over your face are not permitted). When students enter the building, there will be a sanitation station at the door and students are required to sanitized upon entering. At this time, parents and visitors are not permitted in the building.
Snack Shack
For the week of September 1-4, there will be no available food for purchase from our Snack Shack. Students are required to bring their lunch on those days. We have been directed that we cannot allow students to use the vending machine, students are not permitted to use microwaves or hot water dispensers as well. We are also asking that students take “pack in/pack out” lunches meaning that whatever students take in their lunch kit (including packaging, Ziplock bags, wrappers etc.) are put back in their kit when they are done eating and disposed of at home.
Lunch
Lunch will be eaten in classroom spaces with the student’s homeroom class. This safety measure will continue and on regular school days students lunch period will be split in half, one portion for eating, the other for students to go outside in a specified grade area.
Lockers
As per CBE direction, students will not be assigned a locker. This means that students will be required to have a backpack to carry their belongings to and from school and to store their belongings in the classroom. Jackets will be hung on the back of student’s chairs. Students will be issued supplies at school and they will be responsible for these supplies, storing them in their backpack.
Hub Learning
Families who have applied for their student(s) to be part of Hub learning, will receive an email confirming their enrolment on Friday, August 28.
Due to changes in enrolment, staffing, Hub learning etc. we are in the process of re-scheduling and creating updated classes for all grades. We thank you for your patience with this process.
School Supply Lists
All students require athletic wear for PE. This consists of running shoes, shirt and shorts or sweatpants. SWS gym clothing will be available for sale in September.
