Please visit our COVID-19 page for the most up-to-date information. Our plan is subject to change throughout the school year as more information becomes available.

One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

Information about the impact of COVID-19 on School Councils is available on the CBE website.

SCHOOL COUNCIL NEWS!

Welcome back to the new and existing families of our school!  After a successful year using the Vihara system we have decided to continue using this fantastic communication tool. The system allows parents/guardians to sign up for our parent council mailing list. By subscribing, you will receive emails directly from council committees regarding meetings, special events planned within the school, including Healthy Hunger lunches and Friday Fun Snacks, any fundraising initiatives, volunteering opportunities, newsletters and other parent council related information. This will be the main way to receive this information going forward.

To sign up, please go to: https://schools.vihara.ca/home, choose "Scenic Acres", then subscribe to each grade level that your child/children attend (i.e., if your family has children in both Kindergarten and Grade 4, you will need to sign up for both grades).

New this year is our Council Facebook page!  To receive communication through our Facebook group, please search “Scenic Acres School Council & Community” and answer the membership questions to request to be added to the group.  Please note that you must answer all membership questions for your request to be accepted by the administration team.  This Facebook group is administered and managed by the volunteer parents on our Council team and is not affiliated with the administration team at the school.
