Dressing Appropriately
Students should be dressed to go outside for recess and lunch - snow, rain or shine. Our temperature within the school can also vary, from area to area, so please remember to dress your child in layers that enable them to cool off (perhaps during a PE class) and warm up if they are in a classroom that is set at a cooler temperature. We also remind all students that dress and grooming at Silver Springs School should reflect that this is a place of work and learning. As such we request that student dress respects:
- Safety in all areas.
- Appropriateness for the school environment: i.e., no revealing clothing, no bare stomachs, or any items that would have messages that could offend others.
We thank all parents/guardians for their support with this.
Indoor Shoes
We are proud of our school and would like to maintain an optimal indoor environment for students. As a result, we require that students have shoes or boots for outdoor wear, as well as shoes intended only for indoor wear. The indoor shoes will remain in the school, but must also be suitable for outdoor use in case of emergency (we do not recommend slippers). This is a safety requirement and also assists us in keeping our school clean. It is preferable that these shoes be non-marking runners that can be used both in the classroom and gymnasium.
