Special Events & Dances
Our school offers several special events and dances throughout the school year. If you choose to come to these events, you are committing to be there for the entire duration of the dance (usually 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm). If you need to leave early or arrive late to the function, you must have pre-arranged this with a signed parent/guardian note given to the Main Office or Leadership teacher. Once you arrive, you will not be permitted to leave the dance early without having made pre-arrangements.
Some of our special events include:
- Terry Fox Run
- Dance-a-thon
- 30-hour Famine
- Environmental & Social Justice club projects
Expectations for student behavior and conduct are in effect during these events (including student attire).
Grade 9 Farewell
In June of each year, we celebrate our Grade 9 students with a farewell event. The Grade 9 Farewell Event is divided into two parts: Ceremony (students and guests) and Dance (students only). Seating is limited due to Fire Code regulations, so each student is asked to limit the number of invited guests (parents, guardians, friends or family) at the Ceremony. There is a cost per student. Detailed information will be shared with our Grade 9 students each year.
Assemblies and Special Presentations
Assemblies and presentations will be held throughout the year to inform students on selected topics, celebrate successes, demonstrations of citizenship, character, and personal development, and to build school spirit. This includes recognition of our Kiwanis Watch Award winners, which you (an SJAM student) can have a voice in nominating. Please click on this link to fill out a nomination form.
