If your child is part of the above classes and attended on March 23, 24, 25 and 26 then your child is required to quarantine until April 10 (based on exposure on March 26). Your child will be out of quarantine on Saturday April 10 and return to classroom learning on Monday April 12. The school will be in touch with you on April 6 to establish online learning.
Other household members are not required to quarantine unless they are displaying symptoms consistent with COVID-19. If you or others in your home have any of these symptoms, please complete the online Alberta Health Services (AHS) COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.
Dr. Hinshaw, the province’s chief medical officer of health, has also issued spring break guidance to Albertans. This includes a strong recommendation against interprovincial travel, as well as a reminder not to travel within the province, or gather indoors with anyone other than your household cohort.
More detailed information and guidance is available in this short spring break video posted on the Alberta government website.

COVID-19 Variant of Concern Case at Sir John Franklin School
April 2, 2021
Dear parents/guardians,
An individual at Sir John Franklin School who was previously diagnosed with COVID-19 has recently been identified as having a COVID-19 Variant of Concern (VOC).
For everyone’s health and safety, we are working directly with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the public health inspector to ensure all spaces in our school are thoroughly cleaned and any additional steps are taken, prior to the school re-opening following spring break. We will continue to work directly with and follow the recommendations of AHS, Alberta Education and Alberta Health.
AHS will communicate directly with all identified close contacts of the case and will provide additional information on testing recommendations and quarantine requirements for those directly impacted. More information on COVID-19 variants can be found at alberta.ca/covid-19-variants.aspx.
To help protect the well-being of our students and staff, please keep your child home after spring break if they experience any COVID-19 symptoms or have been out of the country in the last 14 days.
Please let the school know that your child is home because of COVID-19 and take the self-assessment or call Health Link at 811 to determine if you or any member of your family needs to be tested.
Thank you for playing a part in keeping our school community safe. If you have questions, please call Health Link at 811.
