Attendance

Attendance Line: 403-777-6800, extension 1

Regular attendance is a requirement of all students. Consistent attendance, punctuality and good work habits are essential for success. If students are absent, parents or guardians are expected to call the attendance line before 8:00 AM.  If students are absent during regular instructional hours they will not be permitted to participate in any extracurricular activities after school.

Late Arrival

When students arrive at school after the bell, they will be recorded as being absent until they check in at the office and receive a ‘glad you are here’ slip. If they have been at an appointment, a note from the clinic/doctor/dentist/or parent should be presented when the student checks in.  If a student is late and the school has not received a message to explain the reason for the students’ tardiness, a phone call will be made by the school to check on the welfare of the student. Frequent lates or absences will be addressed on an individual basis by the school’s administrative team.

Early Departure

If a student needs to leave the school prior to dismissal time, the parent/guardian must come to the office to sign-out their child.

Hallway Policy

Students are expected to be in their classrooms during instruction.  If a student needs to leave the classroom for any reason, they first need to ask their teacher and then follow the teacher’s procedure for signing out and back into the classroom upon their return. Hallway passes are worn while students are out of their class.

Accident or Illness at School

If a student becomes injured or ill while at school, he or she needs to notify a staff member immediately. The staff member will attend to the particular situation and if the injury or illness appears to be serious, parents/guardians will be contacted and asked to pick up their child or provide further instruction. If the situation warrants medical attention and the parents/guardians cannot be reached, an ambulance will be called.

Change of Contact Information

It is essential that the school office have the most up to date contact information for every student. If your address, phone number or contact people change during the school year please inform the office as soon as possible.  This includes information on your child’s caregiver before and after school as well as any other information in regard to current custody agreements between parents.
