One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council

Meeting Schedule

We value the support and input of our parents to make our school the very best it can be. School Council usually meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Learning Commons.

Child care is provided, snacks and refreshments. ALL parents welcome, no experience required.

See our Calendar page for dates and times.

What We Do

Working closely with the school administrator, the school council is a volunteer group of parents who meet monthly.  We help Stanley Jones (SJ), Alice Jamieson Girls’ Academy (AJA) and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program (DHH) become even better! Your input is invaluable to our children's education and the success of the school.

The Council takes the lead in certain fundraising events. The funds raised are then used to purchase equipment, supplement costs for certain class activities, help pay for field trips or guests to the school, organize family events and more. 100% of funds are used for the betterment of the school.

We invite you to attend council meetings, to learn about and support your school!
