Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Parking & Drop-Off

Student Drop-off and Student Pick-up

With the colder weather, we have noticed an increase in the amount of traffic and students being dropped off and picked up. Please remember to always use the crosswalk. We are trying to teach the students proper road safety and this is much better when parents model proper safety as well. The community has also been in contact with the parking authority. Choose safety over convenience!

We have designated drop off locations for all of our students. There are marked kiss and go drop off areas on westbound 8 Avenue NE. Two spots in front of the bus zone and several spots behind the bus zone close to the Renfrew community center. There is no short- or long-term parking in these areas or on the west side of the school.

AJA students enter through the west main doors and Stanley Jones students including our new specialized class, “The Class,” enter through the east side doors.

Parking

Please be aware that the parking lot is for staff only. Unless your vehicle has a disabled parking permit, please do not enter the parking lot at any time. There should be no dropping off or picking up of students in this area.

Additionally, the parking lot on the west side of the building should also not be accessed. We do have delivery trucks and CBE vehicles that use this parking lot but it is not intended to be used by parents dropping off and picking up their children.

For guests/parents, parking is available on eastbound 8 Avenue across from the school, southbound 6 Street NE across from the schools' west entrance and on Regal Road on the north side of the school playground.

Staff parking is located in the paved parking lot on the north side of the school.

Substitute teachers are welcome to park in the middle of the staff parking located on the north side of the school.

Bus Zones

Bus zones are located on west driving 8 Avenue NE and north driving 6 Street NE.  There is also a city transit stop by the west entrance of the school NO PARKING.
