Sundance School Vision
To provide a learning community that responds quickly and effectively to the changing individual and collective needs of our students. Sundance Elementary is committed to the development of each child’s potential, to the building of each child’s positive self-concept and to nurturing a desire for life-long learning in each child.
The Sundance School Community
- Understands that attending to school culture is the most effective way to ensure an environment in which children are safe and meaningfully engaged
- Understands that learning needs to be structured toward, and responsive to, an increasing number of learner complexities
- Is enriched by the shared commitment of staff, students and parents
- Is committed to using inquiry as a means of engaging learners in meaningful curricular work
Sundance School Name
The Sundance community was named in honour of the greatest festival of the First Nations of the Plains - the Sun Dance. The park and lake provide a focal point for the entire community and the first school built in the area was logically named Sundance School.
