Principal End of Year Message
Dear Families

Another school year has come to a close and with summer arriving, on behalf of our staff, we wish each of our students and their families a safe, restful and relaxing holiday. We hope you are able to find time to enjoy the outdoors with lots of great weather and family adventures.
We would like to thank all of the staff for their outstanding dedication towards the teaching and learning of our students. Their enthusiasm, devotion and commitment to our students this year has been exceptional. It has been a pleasure to work and learn with your children.
Lastly, we would like to say a HUGE thank you to our school council and our wonderful parent volunteers this year.  We appreciate all that you do to support our students, so they have memories to cherish for a lifetime of fun and learning experiences, which they carry forward for years to come!

Report Cards:  Online report cards will be enabled for viewing from June 28, 2022 (8 a.m.) to July 28, 2022 (8 a.m.). During this window, legal guardians / independent students are welcome to view report cards online. In order to access your child’s report card, you MUST have a myCBE account.

This is the account you use for paying school fees, booking learning conferences, and checking attendance/grades. The school will not be printing report cards to be sent home.

A guide for parents can be found here: Accessing online report cards

Individual Program Plan's (IPP's) have already been shared with respective families. Please make sure you have signed the signature page and returned it to school with your child. Thank you.

Staffing Update: The hardest part of this time of year is the many goodbyes as staff members move on to new opportunities. While it is sad to say farewell – we know that there are amazing adventures on the horizon for all our amazing staff.
We would like to say goodbye and a sincere thank you to the following staff for their hard work at Sundance School.  They have inspired and supported our students over the years and will be greatly missed. Their impact on staff and students will be the legacy they leave behind.
Mme. Kim – Grade 4, will be moving on to David Thompson and we wish her all the best at her new school. We will miss her creativity, her kindness and commitment to the students dearly.
Mme Julie recently welcomed a new addition to her family; baby Levi was born just this week.   We extend our congratulations to Mme Julie as she begins her maternity leave.
Mme Ashley – Kindergarten, has been covering a temporary contract, for Mme Lauren Richards who has also recently welcome a baby girl.  We thank Mme Ashley for joining us for this short time and congratulate Mme Lauren and her family and wish her well during her maternity leave.
We would also like to thank Mrs. B, our library assistant, for everything she has done to make our Learning Commons / Library space a great place for students and staff. We wish her all the best during her retirement.  We will miss you Mrs. B!

We are happy to announce two new teachers; Mme Jenna Sorrenti and Mme Katherine Peters who will be joining the Sundance team for the 2022-23 school year. We also welcome Mme Michele Hirsekorn who joins us as our new library assistant.
The following temporary teachers will be staying on at Sundance: Mme Genesis Vega-Gonzalez, Mme Andrea Sulek and Mme Catherine Beaupré-Olsen.  Mme Cortney Middleton and M Kevin Olmats will be joining our team of temporary teachers.
Please extend a warm welcome to our new staff.
The staffing process is ongoing, and we will provide another update at the end of August as to which staff will be teaching which grades.

School Organization - Grade Configurations:
The following grade configurations and supports are anticipated for the 2022-23 school year:
4 Kindergarten classes:  2 Mon/Wed and 2 Tues/Thurs
4 Grade 1 classes
3 Grade 2 classes
3 Grade 3 classes
3 Grade 4 classes
2 Grade 5 classes
2 Grade 6 classes
K-3 Teacher
4-6 Teacher
2 Educational Assistants
These configurations are based on our best estimates for the number of students we expect in each grade. We currently have 455 students enrolled at Sundance. As with any year, our student population may change come September and our final configurations may be subject to change up until September 30.
If numbers shift up or down at any grade, we may have to re-organize in the fall. Please note Teachers will be outside on Wednesday, September 1, and will have class lists to help you locate your child’s teacher.
