Visitors & Volunteers Sign In
All parents, visitors and volunteers must report directly to the office and wear a Visitor name tag. This is done for the safety and security of all students. In addition, all parents are requested to sign children out at the school office if children are leaving school during regular school instructional hours. Students should be signed back in if returning during class time.
Parents ‘buzz in’ to enter our school as our doors remain locked during the day. Please proceed to the office to sign in. This ensures that we know everyone who is in our building. Our front doors are always locked. Patrollers go out at 7:45 am. If you need to ‘pick up’ your child, we will have your child meet you in the office. All visitors must report to the
Supervision of children by our staff commences 15 minutes before the morning and afternoon sessions. For safety reasons we ask that students arrive at and not prior to these supervision periods. There is no teacher supervision before 7:45 am or dismissal at the end of the day. After school, children are expected to go home immediately to be supervised by a parent or designated guardian. Students should not be using the compound, field, or creative playground areas at these times. This is a parenting responsibility and not a school supervision responsibility.
Leaving School Grounds
Students are expected to be in school during class times and on the school grounds during lunch (if applicable) and recess. Under no circumstances is a student to leave the school during class times or the school grounds at recess or lunch without permission.
Please make sure that the office is advised of any special custody arrangements you may have regarding your child. Any documentation that you have regarding custody must be on file at our office. We attempt to honour the most recent custody orders.
At times we practice evacuating the school without using the public address system or the fire alarm. In these situations, someone from the school (i.e. an administrator, administrative assistant) will go from classroom to classroom with specific instructions for teachers to evacuate their students to a given area via a given route.
Fire drills are scheduled throughout the school year and are part of our school safety program. We must conduct three before January and three after January. Our first fire drill is scheduled in September and the first one is always an announced drill so we can ensure we evacuate the building in a timely and orderly fashion. Teachers will review procedures for the drill with their students prior to the drill.
