One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council

Who is on School Council and SPA?

All parents and guardians with children enrolled at Sundance School are on School Council and Sundance Parents Association. They are welcome to attend any Council / SPA meeting and may vote on any motion.

How much time is involved?
Our meetings are every month of the school year except December and March. We have consecutive School Council and SPA meetings starting at 6:30pm.

Committees
In addition to our meetings, we have Committees that meet to review, organize, and plan events. If you cannot attend our meetings, please contact our SPA Chair for more information about being on a Committee.

Who do I contact for more information?
Please contact Sundance School and speak with administrative support personnel about contact information for School Council or SPA Chairs.

School Council manages a Sundance Facebook page. Search "Sundance School Council" and request to join. This page is used to send reminders about activities, articles of interest and is a place for parents to ask questions from the community.
