Working Together

Parents and teachers at Sunnyside have a long tradition of proactively working together on behalf of students. This partnership of home and school evolves from recognition that the work of the school is effective only with the cooperation and support of the home. When positive and regular two-way communication exists, the most effective and successful results are likely to be attained in the holistic growth of each student.

Teachers communicate with parents via email and using their Google Classrooms.  Ongoing communication is important to ensure that parents are aware of their children's growth.  Parents are encouraged to contact their child's teacher at any time.

We take pride in seeing Sunnyside as a place where parents are welcomed. Individual classrooms provide opportunities for parents to volunteer. When parents wish to meet with their child's teacher, we ask that they contact the teacher and find convenient time. For safety reasons, all parents and visitors to the school are required to sign in at the office before entering the school.  We are excited to be able to welcome parent volunteers back to Sunnyside for the 2022-2023 school year.

Along with its own school culture, each school reflects a unified CBE culture of inclusion. This includes our CBE-wide approach to preventing bullying and to protecting our LGBTQ students. Learn more about our system-wide commitment to having an inclusive environment on the CBE website.
