Hello Thorncliffe learning community,
I would like to take this time to welcome back our returning families and extend a warm welcome to new families who are joining us for the first time. We have had a fantastic start to the 2023-24 school year. Our welcome back pancake breakfast on September 1st 2023, funded by school council, and put on by the Batter Boys Pancake Breakfast was a great way to start the year. Plans are already in motion to have them back to commence the 2024-25 school year.
I would like to congratulate everyone at Thorncliffe for accomplishing the Terry Fox 2023-24 goal of running the same amount of kilometers as Terry did back in 1980 (5 000 Km). Students and staff were committed and motivated to make sure we had a successful day. In addition, the turnout for Meet the Teacher was great and the book fair fundraiser was a huge success! We look forward to seeing you back at the school for Parent Teacher Conferences in November 23rd-24th.
We are diverse learning community united in building a school culture that is welcoming, caring, and respectful to foster a sense of belonging for everyone. Our student population, as of Oct. 1st is 278 students. Our staff consists of 13 teachers, 3 educational assistants, a library assistant, 3 lunch supervisors, secretary, and a facility operator.
Thorncliffe will continue to focus on student achieving in the literacy, numeracy, and well-being. Teachers will be engaged in professional development to improve their pedagogy and be active participant in Professional learning Communities and Collaborative Response Meetings throughout the year to meet the needs of all our learners.
I look forward to another exceptional school year,
